People will have seen that Christmas goods have started to appear in local shops, & to promote Christmas shopping in the town, Maryport Christmas lights will be switched-on on Saturday 21 November. The Town Council will be making arrangements for a programme of family entertainment, with children at its heart of course, to be held during the afternoon of that day.
The outdoor stage at the junction with High Street will commence at 1pm & showcase the areas’ talented entertainers, ably hosted by the fabulous Cookie, & there will be fairground rides for the little ones on upper Senhouse Street from late morning.
With the kind courtesy of the Labour Club management, Santa will be hosting his grotto there once again, and Bethany Gray will be providing free seasonal face-painting. We will also be providing Christmas Crafting in association with Maryport Horizons at The Carlton, where local producers will be selling their wares. Free Tea, Coffee & Hot Chocolate will be available throughout the afternoon, as well as mince pies & mulled wine through kind courtesy of The Golden Lion.
If children want to visit Santa’s grotto, they will require a ticket & the Town Council’s social media sites will provide further details on how to get tickets nearer the time.
The big switch-on will be at 5pm!
