As people will be aware, regeneration projects are currently being carried out in Maryport by Cumberland Council. The projects are run by subgroups overseen by a Town Board & the Town Council has members on each of the sub groups. Some of these projects are now complete.
Shiver Me Timbers is now complete and is being enjoyed by many. Maryport Town Council works in partnership with the Lake District Coast Aquarium, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the play park. The splash park will be available for public use later in the year.
Skate Park is now complete and being enjoyed by all. The official opening event was well attended following a delay due to the weather.
Maryport Activity Centre, (The Wave), is now complete, open and operational following a slight delay on the works being carried out.
The Harbourside Event Space work is ongoing but progressing on schedule and looks to be open by Easter. The space will be handed over to Maryport Town Council on completion, following which it is planned to hand over the management of the area to the newly formed Maryport Horizons CIC Social Enterprise.
The Carlton has seen many delays in progress, but is on track to be open in August 2025.
Christ Church/Maritime Museum works are ongoing, with ab anticipated completion date of July 2025.
Street Scape, Pocket Park, Flower Displays works are now complete on the corner of Crosby Street/John Street, with flower displays and seating areas.
The Promenade Café & Toilets foundations were poured during January 2025. The works are track & a late 2025 opening is expected, with a café supplier being appointed.
