In the earlier part of the Summer, the Council invited members of the community to nominate either their own or their neighbours’ gardens & flower displays for an award in the Council’s Best Kept Garden & Containers competition 2021.
The Council likes to give recognition to those who make that extra effort to develop their gardens, which not only gives them pleasure but also other members of the community who can view their displays. Mayor Peter Kendall & Councillor Christine Slater carried out the judging in late July & the following were the winning entries:
- Best Kept Large Garden: Kenneth & Audrey Brown, Pennygill, Flimby
- Best Kept Medium Garden: Stephen Foster, Derwent Avenue, Maryport
- Best Kept Small Garden: John & Brenda McCullock, Mosedale Avenue, Maryport
- Best Kept Containers: Sally Watson, Station Court, Maryport
