Remembrance Day

The 2018 Remembrance Day Parade took place on Sunday 11 November. A church service was held at St Nicholas’ Church, Flimby, in the morning, followed by wreath laying at Flimby churchyard. In the afternoon, the Remembrance Day Parade organised by the Town Council & managed on the Council’s behalf by Maryport Sea Cadets, commenced in Fleming Square & marched to St Mary’s Church, where a special service was held, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Maryport Memorial Gardens.

The Parade was led on this Centenary Year by Vice Admiral Tim Chitterton, a retired officer from the Royal Navy who has attended previous parades as a spectator. Many people turned up to watch the parade despite the poor weather; pictures of the parade can be viewed on the Council’s facebook site.
