Christmas Lights Switch-on

Maryport Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.00pm on Saturday 24 November. The switch-on will be preceded by an afternoon of fun & entertainment for all the family on Senhouse Street, commencing at 1.00pm, organised by the Town Council. Christmas Trees are being provided courtesy of Iggesund, positioned at Netherhall Corner, the Aquarium, the Cottage Hospital & on the corner of Brook Street, Flimby.

Santa will be visiting & will meet children in his grotto in the Labour Club, where they can receive a present, & tell Santa what they hope he will bring them for Christmas! Santa is always a popular attraction & the presents he gives out in Maryport are very good value for the £3 he collects, so make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment. Santa can only get so many presents on his sleigh to bring to Maryport so it’s first come, first served!

The Labour Club will also host stalls raising funds for local groups & organisations. The Town Council will be providing plenty of activities for kids to take part in, including face painting, glitter tattoos, magic, games, puppets, party dancing, mix and mingle balloon modelling and music in the Town Hall, all FREE of charge, together with Fairground Rides on the upper part of Senhouse Street. Hot drinks will be available from the Town Hall, FREE of charge, followed later in the day by mulled wine & mince pies, FREE on a first come, first served basis.

There will be FREE outdoor entertainment for one & all, on the street & on the stage, with performances by local schools & organisations, with music provided by local band Sneaky Finch. The lights will be switched on by local children, with one representative from each Maryport Primary School selected through winning a competition organised through the Maryport Schools’ Partnership. Lots to enjoy for everyone!
