At its meeting in January, the Town Council agreed a precept of £194,000 for 2018/19. The precept forms the majority of funding available to the Council to carry out services in the town & is collected on its behalf by Allerdale Borough Council.
The majority of Maryport householders occupy a property designated as Band A & for the second year running, there has been no increase in Council Tax for the Maryport area. The annual Band A Council Tax in respect of the Town Council therefore remains at £48.79, less than £1 per week, & all the proceeds of this are applied to the Maryport area.
