Remembrance Day

The 2017 Remembrance Day Parade took place on Sunday 12 November. A church service was held at St Nicholas’ Church, Flimby, in the morning, followed by wreath laying at Flimby churchyard. In the afternoon, the Remembrance Day Parade organised by the Town Council & managed on the Council’s behalf by Maryport Sea Cadets, commenced in Fleming Square & marched to St Mary’s Church, where a special service was held, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Maryport Memorial Gardens. Boat Displays in support of Remembrance Day were in place at Netherhall Corner, Senhouse Street & the low road. On the display boat constructed by Gen 2 apprentices & sited on Senhouse Street, Maryport Sea Cadets had prepared a feature from old plastic bottles decorated to resemble poppies & netting, which provided a strong visible impact in the town centre & was commended by many people.
