Two Maryport businesses built & donated to the Town Council a new Poppy Boat to replace the previous boat located on the Glasson Industrial Estate Roundabout, which was stolen in November 2016. Syd Wood of Maryport Car Centre, & Richard Stamper of R Stamper Services, decided to construct a replacement when the stolen boat could not be found. The boat will be used to display poppies in support of Maryport veterans during November, & for the display of flowers during the summer months.
