The Town Council organised a parade in honour of Cumbria’s only paralympion, Simon Lawson of Maryport, which was held on Friday 30 September.
On a lovely sunny Autumn day, some 1,500 Maryport school children cheered and waved union jack flags to show their support making it a fabulous, colourful display as Simon, together with family and civic guests, travelled from St Mary’s Church to Maryport Town Hall, where a presentation was held to mark Simon’s fete. Television and newspapers recorded the event.
