Remembrance Day & Poppy Appeal 2024

The Council invites you to take part in the Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 10th November, with two services at Flimby & Maryport.

The first of the two services will take place in St Nicholas’ Church, Flimby, at 10am.In Maryport, the traditional parade will take place, moving off from Fleming Square at 2.45 pm. This will be followed by a service in St Marys Church, with a wreath laying ceremony then taking place in the Maryport Memorial Gardens.

After the ceremony, the parade will reform on the Cockermouth Road and proceed via the A594 to the saluting base, then to the Maryport Rugby Club, Mealpot Road, to be dismissed.

The Poppy Appeal for Maryport and the surrounding area is being operated by the Town Council. Please show your support for the country’s veterans through purchasing a poppy, or other commemorative piece, from a local outlet. In addition to regular outlets, stalls selling poppies & other merchandise will be in supermarkets on the weekends immediately prior to Remembrance Day. For those wishing to lay a wreath, they will be available from the Town Hall from mid-October.
