Remembrance Day & Poppy Appeal

The Council invites you to take part in the Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 12th November. The first of the two services will take place in St Nicholas’ Church, Flimby, at 10am.

A parade will take place from Fleming Square at 2.45pm, followed by a service in St Marys Church: this will be followed by the Wreath Laying Ceremony in the Memorial Gardens.

After the ceremony, the parade will reform on the Cockermouth Road and proceed via the A594 to the Saluting Base, then to the Maryport Rugby Club, Mealpot Road, to be dismissed.

The Poppy Appeal for Maryport and the surrounding area has in previous years been led by Carol Tindall with the assistance of Maryport Town Council. Carol has now retired from this position and the Council would like to thank her for the service she has provided to the town and surrounding areas for those years. The Council will now lead on the delivery of the Poppy Appeal in the area.

Stalls selling Poppies & other merchandise will be in local supermarkets during the weekend of Remembrance and the week in the run up that.
