Mill Race Walkway

Maryport Town Council, working in partnership with Netherhall School, Maryport Church of England Junior School, Ewanrigg Junior School and Our Lady & St Patricks Primary School, with the help of funding from Allerdale Borough Council, is arranging to re-vamp and refresh the walkway from Senhouse Street through to Mill Street car park in the coming months.

Ideas and designs from the school children who will be involved in carrying out the work. Netherhall Art students are leading on the design work and a schedule is being prepared for the project.

Car parking at Mill Race car park is, courtesy of Allerdale Borough Council, available free of charge to the public for a two hour period, giving the local community and visitors the freedom to look around shops and take in the scenery around the harbour side during their visits, or to do some shopping in either of the supermarkets nearby.

It is anticipated that the refurbishment will provide a welcoming approach to the town for all and the Town Council is proud to involve Maryport school pupils in this project and looks forward to the completion of a project created by the town’s young community representatives for all.
