Maryport Schools

Maryport Schools Partnership has contributed to a number of events held in recent months, which have been supported by the Town Council. On 6 June, a Bake-off, based on the national television show & involving decorating cakes to the theme of ‘Space’, was held at The Wave Centre.

The Wave Soft Play Area

The Wave’s new Soft Play Area has opened. Geared towards younger children, the feature has been funded through a £10,000 grant provided by the Town Council. Sessions are available morning & afternoon; contact The Wave for details.

Maryport Family Fun Day

In association with Maryport Joint Schools’ Partnership, the Town Council Family Fun Day took place on Wednesday 31 July on the green adjacent to Shiver Me Timbers & featured entertainment devised by the school children of Maryport who represent their schools on the Joint Schools’ Council. The pupils decided that they would like the theme of the event this year to be ‘Tropical’ & a set of entertainment based around that theme was devised.

Judging for Maryport & Flimby’s Best Kept Garden & Container Competition took place on 17 July. An earlier date had been agreed than for previous years & after three weeks of lovely weather, garden & container displays were looking fabulous. Council members found it very difficult to choose between them, the standard was so high, but after much consideration agreed the following:
