Christmas Lights Switch-on 2016
- Thursday, 13 October 2016
Maryport Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.00pm on Saturday 26 November.
The switch-on will be preceded by an afternoon of fun and entertainment for all the family at the top of Senhouse Street, organised by the Town Council. In addition, Allerdale Borough Council is arranging for a continental market on the day which will be on the lower part of Senhouse Street.
Santa will be visiting and will meet children in his grotto in the Labour Club, where they can receive a present, and tell Santa what they hope he will bring them for Christmas!
The Labour Club will also host stalls raising funds for local groups and organisations. The Town Council will be providing plenty of activities for kids to take part in, including:
- face painting
- glitter tattoos
- nail and hair decorating in the Town Hall
All FREE of charge, together with fairground rides on the upper part of Senhouse Street.
Hot drinks will be available from the Town Hall, FREE of charge, followed later in the day by mulled wine and mince pies, FREE on a first come, first served basis.
There will be FREE outdoor entertainment for one and all, on the street and on the stage, with performances by local schools and organisations, headlined by local group, THE MISFITZ, performing their own unique blend of rhythm and blues music. The Mayor Linda Radcliffe will be overseeing the switch-on of the lights by local children, and the Council will be providing extra lights in the town this year, including a special display and tree at Maryport Cottage Hospital.
Lots to enjoy for everyone!
